Running a White Trail (Beginner)
Here I come to taste the joys of White Trail, if like me you want to start running in the snow this winter Here are some tips:
-
- Read the weather the last 3 days and come early to feel the snow:
Why? Simply because, depending on the structure of the snow, the race could change dramatically at all.
A hard snow with patches of ice = fast running, good support if you are equipped with chains or toothed shoe type Yaktrax
A soft snow (current or recent fall) = The Galley! It is sinking, falling, many downturns in narrow ... in short you can not do much except to economize not to finish miserably!
A packed snow = the top, it being on air, it does not sink, does not slip ... the pace is fast but still some gaffe holes: nb:
- Equip themselves accordingly, but not too much!
There is no point to the jacket, it was soon running hot, especially if the sun is the part with the reverb ... I would say two layers including a fleece. Put a windbreaker in the bag in case Eole occurs. Take a good warm hat and gloves for chilly.
Optionally, a buff to put around the neck to protect the nose, mouth so big gust of wind!
- Protect your Camelback
Yes think to protect its water supply. Many insiders use gourds they carry on a belt at the waist rather than the Camelback that freezes very quickly. Otherwise, there are protections isothermal, never tested on my part ...
- Do not expect to rock the house!
... Unless you call Diemunsch Etienne, Julien Kilian Jornet ransom or do not expect to run 15km \ h your first white trail but your jogging pace although very quiet ![]()
Here, if you see something else, thank you for comment I will update the post ![]()

- The Camelback, under the jacket. And blow into the pipe after drinking the liquid to rise in the pocket. It cools much faster in the pipe.

- Keep the liquid in the mouth 10 seconds before swallowing, it warms a bit and it can prevent gastric trouble
- Personally, the Buff around the neck seems to me indispensable. In an alternative plan in the bag if the planned trip is rather long
- Mini-gaiters, to delay the moment when the feet are wet. GoreTex shoes can be useful in these conditions
Well, thank you for this little article

Thank you Taz
and a pair of socks in the camel, just in case ... After a few hours in the snow and in anticipation of the remaining hours, it feels good to clean socks
